Student Success Statement
"Obedience is the great test of life."
-Thomas S. Monson

I feel like this is a quote everyone should live by because it is not only important for yourself, but for everyone. Imagine if everyone followed the rules to no kill, do drugs, or hurt other people? The world would be so much better, but we don't. That is why be have murders and homicides. People do not obey the rules and that is why they do what they do. If you are obedient, you shouldn't have any type of problem in life, and this is what this great man is trying to tell us, but we do not listen.

"Obedience.... is the primary objective of all sound education."
-Elizabeth Missing Sewell

I think what this great woman means is that in order to be well educated, you have to pay attention and follow directions. For example, how would a little kid learn if he throws tantrums over test scores, over missing projects etc. in order for that kid to learn he has to shut up and listen. That's the only way anyone will learn. You can't talk back because that's being disobedient.

Student Success Statement
"The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."
-Boyd K. Packer

I think what he means is that if you follow directions, you can do what ever you want. For example, if your mom tells you not to play with fire, don't do it. Do something else, and she won't get mad. People do not follow rules, that is why we are strict. If people followed rules we wouldn't need police officers etc.
Obedience:
Obedience is generally distinguished from compliance, which is behavior influenced by peers, and from conformity, which is behavior intended to match that of the majority. Obedience can be seen as immoral, amoral and moral.
Synonyms:

  1. agreement
  2. compliance
  3. meekness
  4. observance
  5. respect
  6. duty
  7. docility
  8. reverence
  9. deference
  10. conformity
When you talk to your pet dog and he follows your directions. For example, you tell him to sit and he does.

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."
-Benjamin Franklin

I think what this great man means is that if you do things fast and good, you will be healthy, rich and smart. For example if you follow the same routine, of waking up, jogging, studying and going to school, you will get adjusted to that routine, making you balanced overall because you are getting the basic things your body asks of you. You will be fit because you jog, you will smart because you study, and you will rich because you are going to school to become something. If everyone were to follow these steps we would be better humans overall.

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."
-Alexander Pope

I think what this great man means is that as long as you keep true to your parts, for example a, giving your word, keeping a promise, or even doing what you think is right, you will have honor. If you always do what you say you are going to do, people will see you as an honorable person because you are always keeping it true. You can't like even once because people will start to lose trust in you, and I think trust and honor need each other to work.
